Via the fellow breeder of boys Gourmet Girlfriend:

Well I walk upon the river like it’s easier than land
Evil’s in my pocket and your will is in my hand
Oh, your will is in my hand

And I’ll throw it in the current that I stand upon so still
Love is all, from what I’ve heard, but my heart’s learned to kill
Oh, mine has learned to kill

Oh, I said I could rise
From the harness of our goals
Here come the tears
But like always, I let them go
Just let them go

And now spikes will keep on falling from the heavens to the floor
The future was our skin and now we don’t dream anymore
No, we don’t dream anymore

Like a house made from spider webs and the clouds rolling in
I bet this mighty river’s both my savior and my sin
Oh, my savior and my sin

Oh, I said I could rise
From the harness of our goals
Here come the tears
But like always, I let them go
Just let them go

Well I walk upon the river like it’s easier than land
Evil’s in my pocket and your strength is in my hand
Your strength is in my hand

And I’ll throw you in the current that I stand upon so still
Love is all, from what I’ve heard, but my heart’s learned to kill
Oh, mine has learned to kill

Oh, I said I could rise
From the harness of our goals
Here come the tears
But like always, I let them go
Just let them go

This morning I clicked on your blog like i do most mornings and found this song. Loved it Kim. You do this for me so often and i wonder if you realise how much you influence others through this blog. Your post about being the parent of Oscar bought me to the edge of tears. It was honest, beautifully written and somehow managed to catch the harsh realities of life with a child such as Oscar, at the same time as having an undaunted, graceful (yes graceful) courage to stick your finger up to a world who makes it so difficult to be him. Of course i didn’t comment on that post, i rarely do.
This morning as I headed off for my run up a deserted Tasmanian track, I was spurred on by visions of you in your early morning pursuit of fitness, strength and sanity. And as i ran, pausing now and then to do squats or push ups or sit ups (again inspired by your instagram photos) I wondered if you realised just how much readers such as myself took strength from your words. We have talked before about your passion for writing and i wanted to reiterate to you that you ARE a writer. Not only are you a writer but you are a writer with a readership most conventionally published authors could only dream about. It’s a pretty amazing thing to influence people through your writing. You do it most days. Izetakemehatofftoyou.
    Much love,
    M

    • OH Mags, you have no idea how much this means to me. No idea. xxxK
