Current craze curiosity satisfied

Do you remember what was all the rage when you were a kid? For me it was hoola-hoops, pencil cases that were pretty little padded boxes with various compartments, puggles, and then, just as I headed into high school, Cabbage Patch dolls. There were Strawberry Patch dolls and probably myriad others that simply passed me by. My recollection of what was hot for my brother was Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars and footy cards. League of course.

So it has been pretty funny watching the boys, ie Felix, fall headlong into whatever the craze is that is gripping his cohort. Pokemon was massive – we have masses of Pokemon cards I am determined will one day be worth a fortune and finally give me the lifestyle to which I’d like to be accustomed. Pokemon also messed with my head because here was Felix, bright, competitive Felix failing at reading at school and yet perfectly capable of reading, learning and pronouncing the ludicrous names of Pokemon characters. Then there was some weird little characters that were traded and used like jacks. And oh, Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars. Of course Lego is a mainstay so safely escapes the category of ‘craze’ or ‘fad’.

At the moment, it’s all about silly putty. Don’t look at me like that, as if I know why.

So Felix had been nagging me about it no end and for some reason today I was feeling friendly and we visited the toy shop after school. With Grover and Jasper in tow.

Yeah, I could see where it was going too.

Everyone got silly putty. So far only Jasper and Grover have ignored my stipulation about not leaving it on the lounge. Oscar on the other hand took it somewhere I hadn’t even considered.

Dude was so upset naturally I stopped to take a photograph. Anyway, you wanna know how to get silly putty out of hair?

Scissors.

Onward!

  • You can also ice it and then just peel it out, if you can get the kid to sit still long enough. Yeah, thought not. Scissors it is!

    Gogos. Those little jack-like men.

I used to get pissed that the eldest would got to school with a totally high-scoring Bakugan and come home with a stupid do-nothing Gogo he traded it for.

My faves are the Mighty Beanz though, I always have a couple in my handbag for ME to play with 😉

    xx

    • Oh mighty beans are cool. Weird and cool. We missed the bakugan business due to pokemon loyalties.
