you’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow

I followed the apricot jam recipe in The Silver Spoon. It’s a bit too sweet for my liking but has glorious colour and is not too set. I dislike hard-set jams intensely.

Why would a Woolworths stock Avent bottles but not Avent teats?
Similarly, why would they sell pacer pencils but not the correct thickness replacement leads to go in the pencils???

I just remembered the rhubarb I put in the oven six hours ago. The oven has been turned off, but goodness knows what I shall find.

I gave Grover some stewed and pureed apple this morning and some baked pumpkin I mashed up with some of the juices from the lamb tonight – he ate all of it. Just chewed it around and swallowed it down. I think we can safely assume he’s ready for solids…

Oscar got a Principal’s Award today for his work in maths. The award comes in the form of a sticker, which says, appropriately: Principal’s Award. Felix got an achievement award for his progress in reading. It’s big and laminated and shiny. Two government schools, one suburb apart and they might as well be on different planet. I’m so proud of both of them.
That said, the sibling bickering that is going on at the moment? It’s making the baby Jesus cry, that’s what it’s doing. Seriously. That and making my ears bleed. Let’s count how many times I’ve uttered, ‘I don’t care who started it, I’m finishing it’ in the last oh three months? Eleventy gagillion. That’s how many.
The other day as I was starting the intervention in the bickering Felix had his Pavlov Dog response already half out his mouth ‘Oscar’s annoying me’ and well, the phrase, ‘Well you’re annoying the world’ just kinda fell out of my mouth. Whoops.

Chef went out and bought 600 fairy lights today.
Who wants to start taking bets they never even get out of the boxes this Christmas?

I’m really tired but am not really sleeping well at the moment.
Too much on my mind, too much to do, too many half-started not-finished lists.
I’m sitting here typing this when there are six bags of groceries to be unpacked and the rest of dinner to clean up from.
So I’m going to bed.
